Welcome to Sneakers & Skyscrapers – a blog for the health-conscious urbanite! Follow along as I examine how to stay fit a big city, where working late often trumps working out. Weekly posts will include tips and advice on squeezing exercise into that hectic schedule.

A quick glance on the subway across town may just provide enough inspiration to trade the stilettos for sneaks.

photo (4)My name is Lindsey Schmidt, and I am a senior journalism student at Northeastern University in Boston. I’ve lived in Boston since 2009, and I spent six months in New York City earlier this year. City living is a passion, but staying fit can get exhausting and expensive. I made it a personal goal to find new and exciting ways to stay healthy. I just finished four months of training for the Boston Half Marathon, and love to try unconventional fitness routines to keep my regimen fresh. I grew up playing soccer and lacrosse, running track and hiking.
